In Japan, especially during its classical era, the ideal aesthetic of a proper, traditional lady is called a 'yamato nadeshiko' roughly translating into 'flower of Nipponese womanhood'. This can accurately describe Shiori, as well as her upbringing. Despite never being able to experience the normal life of a living girl, Shiori's parents raised her to be as human, or rather, humane, as possible. Just because she is a Hone-onna, doesn't mean that she is inclined to be a monster. Shiori carries her family's name, as well as herself, with a sense of honor, duty, and respect. However, it's not with a commanding aggression, more rather, its passive, yet confident.

Shiori has a rather dismal atmosphere, always walking with light footsteps, her eyes rarely smiling, and keeping her line of sight downwards, more so as a show of respect than since she was taught in a culture that direct eye contact for too long was rude. She's a polite young lady who goes out of her way to show proper manners, but will chide anyone who doesn't show good behavior to elders and authority figures. This doesn't mean she's always serious. She grows more light hearted around close friends and family, her hobbies, and being outdoors in the sun's warmth.  While she won't admit it, she loves jokes, even the corniest ones, and will giggle at anything that's silly enough.

From her mother's side, she has a calm, level head, and from her father, she inherited a strong sense of loyalty, duty, and pride. She wants to be a role model for those who are lost, for those who have strayed down a path of darkness, but want to become their own light to guide their way out. Practicing kendo has helped to strengthen not only her physical prowess, but her determination to work hard towards a goal and to maintain her own destiny.

Biography: ( Abridged Version: She was "born" in the Edo period of Japan. Her mother was a peasant woman forced into a brothel to pay off a debt, and her father, a feudal lord's son. Her father was executed by her grandfather upon learning he was seeing a prostitute in an illegal establishment, and her mother took her own life when she fell into despair. Her mother was reborn into a hone-onna, and she was reborn as well when she came out of her mother as a stillborn infant. Her family's spirit spent the rest of their afterlife living in the spirit realm, while Shiori wandered back and forth between the lands of the living and dead to seek adventure, knowledge, and a way for the living to properly communicate with the deceased.

Kurotsuchi Shiori is a Hone-onna, ( 骨女 ) or 'Bone woman', a legendary Japanese spirit who takes the form of a beautiful maiden who lures people, usually men, to their deaths by draining them of their life force by a simple touch, turning them into skeletons. The Hone-onna also appears skeletal upon revealing their true nature.

Unlike most Hone-onna, Shiori was never born as a living child, and never experienced what it was like to be alive. This is due to the precise circumstances of her mother, Botan. Botan was the daughter of a peasant family who had fallen into debt with some Ronin who they hired to protect their family, the rest of their village from attacks from neighboring bandits who would take advantage of the rural villagers. In order to pay off their debt, they were forced to sell Botan into prostitution. She was 20 years old at the time. Every day that they could not see their daughter, her parents and two younger siblings mourned.

As Botan grieved of the idea of having to live the rest of her days in a brothel, a man named Shinnosuke came into her life. He visited the brothel one evening, and Shiori was chosen to service him. Instead of having his way with her however, Shinnosuke broke down in tears. His father, a daimyo, was tight-fisted and corrupt, and constant pressure was placed on him as his son, and the sole heir to his title. The daimyo was a cruel man who was just as thuggish as the bandits and ronin who stole and took advantage of the people, and did nothing to help them. Shinnosuke felt helpless to do anything, for whenever he tried to offer assistance, his father would 'put him in his place'. Not that this ever stopped Shinnosuke from trying, but the stress and misery was simply too great. Botan listened to his grief and understood his pain, for both of them were like birds trapped in a cage.

Through empathy, compassion, and mutual trust, Botan and Shinnosuke grew closer. Shinnosuke would visit Botan frequently for weeks, their emotional bond growing stronger in spite of that short amount of time. They knew only isolation and pain in the outside world, making it easier for them to confide in one another and enjoy each other's company. He would pay only to see her, never sleep her, and he even paid extra money so that Botan would never have to sleep with any of the customers, drawing the ire and envy of the other prostitutes at the brothel. Yuzu, another recent addition to the brothel who came a few weeks after Shinnosuke's first visit, was the only prostitute who didn't scorn or lash out at Shiori, but consoled and befriended her. Yuzu and Shinnosuke were the only things in the world that gave Botan light and hope. Shinnosuke's friendship with the enslaved woman turned into infatuation quickly, and then eventually, they both fell in love. One night, Shinnosuke promised that he would bring enough money to the Yukakku owners to buy her and Yuzu their freedom, so she could see her family again, and they could get married. It was only after they confessed their love and Shinnosuke told of this news, that they made love under the full moon. And so they waited several months until Shinnosuke could gather enough money to pay off their debts, since he was afraid of drawing his father's attention if he took out such a huge amount of money to an illegal brothel all at once.  Botan was delighted at the aspect and happily accepted a brighter future. However, what they didn't know, was Yuzu's true motive.

She was a spy, one of several spies sent and hired by the Daimyo on suspicions of his son's activities. During these past few months, the Daimyo was away on business in another part of the country, so when word finally got back to him, he was furious. He came back to his home region as soon as he could, and ordered Shinnosuke to confirm his actions, to which his son said was true. The Daimyo was a prideful man, who could never accept a son who would lower himself to even stepping foot into a brothel that was not only wasn't legalized by the government, but also without seeing a woman without his consent, and a low ranking peasant woman at that. In order to restore honor to the Kurotsuchi name, the Daimyo ordered a merciless public execution of his son, and thanked Yuzu for her services.

When word got back to Botan of this, and was forced to watch the execution, her grief-stricken heart turned into devastation, agony, and bitterness. Yuzu's betrayal and her poor treatment of the other workers and staff in the brothel that she barely tolerated in the first place didn't help any matters either. Meanwhile, the Daimyo decided to pay a visit to the illegal brothel, curious as to what his son saw in this young woman that was so special. After just one look at Botan's remarkably frail and vulnerable beauty, the Daimyo demanded that she become his personal concubine of a high ranking status, and mockingly stated that at least his weak-willed, good for nothing son had good taste. However, he noticed she was pregnant, and also ordered for the baby to be rid of as soon as possible.

Botan, no longer wishing to be anyone's prisoner, suffering betrayal and loss, and having been taken away from everything she had loved, decided enough was enough. She stole Yuzu's tanto, and used it to take her own life, bleeding to death. Her last dying words were "I don't need flesh and blood, my bones will always hold my grudge." In death, Botan was re-incarnated as a Hone-onna, however, her passing was special. She was carrying a child inside of her at the time she ended her existence, and from that, the child, a daughter, was born into the world as an infant hone-onna as well. The baby was brought into the afterlife as a skeleton. Botan, now suffering from madness upon seeing her child, went on to haunt the brothel, slaying and killing all of the workers and owners, Yuzu, and the Daimyo. With this blood and flesh, she was able to give her child, and herself, a human form again, which gave her some relief.

As Hone-onna, the spirit of the mother and her child left the brothel at least, in search of Shinnosuke's spirit. They finally found him at the outskirts of Botan's village. There, she gave her family one last parting gift, a peony tree that never stops blooming, before running off with Shinnosuke and her daughter, so they can spend the rest of their after-life in peace. Botan and Shinnosuke named their daughter Shiori, who would "grow" and mature into the form of a young woman. Botan would go on to become a protector of women, especially those placed in brothels, while Shinnosuke would become a guardian spirit of farmers and peasants. Shiori, idolizing the honor code of her parents, would spend her entire life dedicated to protecting the living, as well as honoring the deceased in the spirit realm.

Centuries past, and Shiori would go onto enroll in Ajisai High, a school where humans with magic and supernatural creatures could band together to make the world a better place. She wishes to bring the two sides, 'heroes' and 'villains', together to unite as one. Unfortunately, due to the reputation of her mother and other hone-onna of her kind, she was placed in the 'villainous' class, but she doesn't mind, so long as she can continue her training, learn new things, and experience something close to a "normal school-girl" life.

Likes/Dislikes: + Tea ceremonies, gardens and ponds, nature, poetry, swordsmanship, history, theatre, satire, warm weather, FOOD, fireworks, koi fish, peonies

- Dishonor, sudden disruptions of important matters, lack of time management, laziness, cold tea, brothels and prostitution ( she relates it to the older practices that was more equated to sex slavery, not the more liberal, modern practices we know today ) untidiness, hypocrisy

Relationships: To be added

Sexuality: Heterosexual, Biromantic

Extra: She wears a mask most of the time due to her inability to control her skeletal form manifesting itself in the lower half of her jaw, whenever she is releasing her power, or showing stronger emotions.
